Why?

Roughly 1.7 billion people worldwide live without electricity. The lack is most acute in Sub-Saharan Africa, where over 500 million people have no modern energy.

After dark, millions of Africans living in rural areas are unable to work or do their homework and the poorest are forced to spend 15% of their total household income on fuel-based lighting sources, such as kerosene lamps.

Kerosene lamps are costly, inefficient, contribute to climate change and provide poor quality light while posing fire hazards. They also cause major respiratory illnesses.

Solar powered lights for you and Africa - buy one… and give one away!

When you buy a solar powered torch or lamp for yourself, or as a Christmas present, Advance Aid will receive an identical product to distribute to a poor African family which need it.
